Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation

The 2025 National Science Month theme, “Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation,” makes me realize how science is not just about experiments in laboratories, but about people’s lives and the future we dream of. The unknown can sometimes feel scary, but science shows us that it can also be full of hope and opportunity. Every discovery, whether in medicine, technology, or the environment has the power to change the way we live, solve problems, and create better paths for the generations after us. (DM No. 271, s. 2025 2025 National Science Club Month and ...)

In the years ahead, science and society will continue to walk side by side. Science will guide us in finding solutions to problems like climate change, food shortages, and health crises. But society also has a big role: to understand, support, and use these discoveries wisely. After all, science is not only for scientists, it is for everyone. The progress we make will mean more if it reaches ordinary people and improves lives in real and lasting ways.

This celebration reminds us that investing in science means investing in our own future. By encouraging young minds to be curious and creative, we prepare a new generation of innovators who will face challenges we may not even imagine today. Science gives us the courage to face uncertainty, while society gives science its purpose and direction.

The theme is a call for all of us to believe that the unknown is not something to fear, but something we can harness together. With curiosity, innovation, and compassion, we can turn uncertainty into opportunities that will truly power our shared future.

Climate Change and Resiliency of The Filipinos

Climate Change and Resiliency of The Filipinos

Climate change greatly impacts the lives of Filipinos, yet their unwavering resilience allows them to adapt swiftly. The Philippines, located within the Pacific Ring of Fire is one of the main subject to extreme natural disasters which forces its people to think fast and strive to minimize the damage as much as possible. Despite these constant challenges, Filipinos continue to unite as one in order to demonstrate their strong determination to rebuild and grow a powerful foundation for their communities.

Aside from their strong perseverance, Filipinos also show remarkable ingenuity and strong dedication to display excellence in their daily lives. Farmers cleverly plant crops to ensure the security of food even in midst of storms, as families adjust their routines and make thoughtful decisions to subsist with  frequent flooding and other natural disasters. These efforts not only reflect their adaptability but also their commitment to protecting their livelihoods and supporting one another in the face of constant challenges. (Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery [GFDRR], 2016)

Amid challenges, Filipinos also show compassion by reaching out to help those who are in need. Whether it is during a great calamity or other natural disasters, neighbors and even strangers come together to provide support with each other; completely disregarding social and background difference. This local compassion not only helps communities recover faster but also strengthens the bond among people, showcasing a culture built on cooperation, generosity, and resilience. (United Nations Development Coordination Office, 2025)

In summary, the Filipino spirit shines brightest in the face of difficulty. Their resilience, resourcefulness, and compassion allow them to navigate the challenges imposed by climate change while maintaining strong unity. Through courage and determination, they continue to rebuild and adapt, showing that strength is not merely found in perseverance but in helping others as well.

INTRAMURALS 2025

Every year, one of the most exciting events in our school is the Intramurals. It is something that students always look forward to because it is more than just playing sports. it is a time for fun, teamwork, and building friendships. The whole campus feels alive with cheers, laughter, and excitement as everyone comes together to celebrate this special event.

The program usually starts with the parade of athletes, where each team proudly shows off their banners and colors. This is followed by the lighting of the torch and the oath of sportsmanship, which remind us that the true goal of the games is not just to win, but to play fair and respect one another. These opening activities set the mood for the days ahead, making everyone feel the spirit of unity and sportsmanship.

What makes the Intramurals so memorable are the different competitions. Students compete in basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, chess, track and field, and many more. Some schools also include other activities like cheerdance, e-sports, tug of war, or traditional Filipino games. The variety of events makes sure that everyone has a chance to join in, whether you are good at sports, dancing, cheering, or even strategizing.

But the Intramurals is not only about sports. It is about the lessons we learn while playing. We learn teamwork, because winning is not possible if players don’t trust and support each other. We learn discipline and determination, because athletes need to train and give their best during the games. We also learn about sportsmanship, which means accepting both victories and defeats with respect and humility. And for everyone who cheers on the sidelines, it teaches us the value of support and encouragement.

Personally, what I love most about Intramurals is the way it brings us closer together. It is a break from the usual classroom routine, and it gives us a chance to bond with our classmates and friends in a different way. The cheers, the friendly rivalries, the laughter, and even the close games all become wonderful memories that we carry with us long after the event ends. It is in these moments that we truly feel our school spirit and unity.

In the end, Intramurals is not just about trophies or medals. It is about the experience of playing, learning, and growing together. It reminds us that school is not only about academics but also about developing our character, building friendships, and discovering our strengths. That’s what makes Intramurals one of the most meaningful and unforgettable parts of our school year.
